Psychology Endorsement Programs in Australia: All Nine Areas

Compare APAC-accredited psychology endorsement programs across all nine Australian areas, including MPP-entry, post-registration and dual pathways.

An endorsement pathway is not just a degree with a specialist title. You need the right approved qualification, general registration and the Board's registrar requirements for that area. The order of the degree and general registration depends on the course.

This directory covers every provider with a current Level 3 and 4 or standalone Level 4 accreditation entry in APAC's downloadable register, checked on 9 October 2026, grouped by the Board's nine endorsement areas. Specialist providers such as Cairnmillar, ISN and ACAP are included alongside universities.

Every current accredited qualification for this area in the national APAC register is listed below, with its own official provider link. Links normally open the course page or handbook. Where a provider publishes only shared combined-program information, admission rules or a course-approval list, that is identified in the notes rather than presented as a dedicated course page. Current accreditation does not guarantee an open intake.

Accredited does not mean applications are open. Entries with and without conditions are included; discontinued and teach-out entries are not presented as new-entry options. Campus-specific conditions are marked. APAC accreditation and Psychology Board approval are separate checks: confirm the exact course in the Board-approved programs list, then ask the provider about the intake, entry requirements, delivery and placements.

APAC Level 3 and Level 4: what the terms mean

These are official APAC competency levels, not AQF qualification levels or registration categories. Level 3 describes professional competencies; Level 4 describes professional competencies for specialised areas of practice. APAC's registration pathway map explains how they fit together.

Course structureWho entersWhat happens after the degree
Standalone Level 3 MPPEligible fourth-year psychology graduatesComplete the approved 5+1 internship and National Psychology Examination before applying for general registration; an MPP alone is not an endorsement qualification
Packaged Level 3 and 4 specialist degreeEligible fourth-year graduates, subject to selectionApply for general registration through the approved higher-degree pathway, then complete the area-specific registrar program
Separate Level 4 course accepting prior Level 3Eligible MPP or equivalent graduates where the specific course permitsComplete the approved Level 3 plus Level 4 sequence, apply for general registration, then complete the registrar program
Post-registration or additional-endorsement Level 4 courseGenerally registered psychologists; some require an existing endorsement or minimum registration periodComplete the approved specialist qualification and applicable registrar program; graduation is not endorsement

A one-year course can belong to either of the last two rows. Online delivery does not tell you which. Curtin's MPP-entry clinical route and Cairnmillar's online post-registration clinical course illustrate why checking the entry rules matters.

The registrar program is a separate step

For a first endorsement, the Board's standard qualification categories ordinarily correspond to:

Approved qualification categoryRegistrar hoursMinimum duration
Sixth-year master's or first-endorsement bridging qualification3,00088 weeks
Sixth-year qualification with a doctoral thesis, such as an approved combined master's/PhD2,25066 weeks
Seventh-year or higher professional doctoral qualification1,50044 weeks

These categories depend on Board approval, not simply whether a course title contains “PhD”. Supervision and active professional development are also required. A generic research PhD is not automatically a professional endorsement qualification.

The Board's endorsement FAQ explains that an already endorsed psychologist adding another endorsement can complete 75% of the required supervised-practice hours. The same proportion can apply to each area when simultaneously seeking two endorsements. Neither arrangement removes the approved-qualification requirement for each area. Obtain approval for the relevant registrar arrangement rather than assuming a dual degree produces two endorsements at graduation.

Clinical psychology

Clinical has the broadest provider list. Compare the clinical guide for course structures and the MPP guide's one-year options for entry requirements. Curtin's Level 4 course accepts an eligible Level 3 graduate without general registration; ACU, Deakin and Cairnmillar explicitly offer post-registration courses. UNE has a separate Rule B route for eligible UNE MPP graduates, distinct from its Clinical Advanced Entry degree. Griffith and UniSQ also publish routes for qualifying master's graduates. CQU's public course page and handbook differ on registration at entry: seek written confirmation. A Level 4 label alone does not settle eligibility.

Clinical neuropsychology

There are seven providers with current accreditation entries. UNSW's one-year master's requires general registration and an existing area-of-practice endorsement: it is not entry from Honours or an MPP alone. UWA's Graduate Diploma is a Level 4 bridging course for qualified clinical psychologists with a clinical master's or equivalent, not its packaged master's. UQ's course covers both clinical neuropsychology and clinical psychology; completing it is not automatic dual endorsement. Dedicated packaged neuropsychology programs do not require clinical psychology endorsement first.

Counselling psychology

UQ is the sole provider with current accreditation entries in this area. Its Master of Psychology counselling field is not the same qualification as a Master of Counselling. ACA or PACFA accreditation does not substitute for an approved psychology endorsement qualification.

Community psychology

Community psychology remains one of the Board's nine recognised endorsement areas. However, the APAC register checked on 9 October 2026 contains no community program with current accreditation status. Victoria University's Master of Applied Psychology (Community Psychology) is listed as Teach Out — 1 January 2024. ECU's community master's and PhD, and VU's Doctor of Applied Psychology (Community and Health), are listed as discontinued. These are not a new-applicant course list. Existing approved qualifications and individually assessed equivalent qualifications may still be relevant; ask the Board about eligibility rather than assuming a general psychology degree or community job leads to endorsement.

No currently accredited programs found in this area.

Educational and developmental psychology

Five providers have current accreditation entries. Packaged Level 3 and 4 courses are distinct from Monash's Advanced course: its current 2027 application requirements specify unrestricted general registration held for at least 12 months. Do not list that advanced route as an MPP-direct course.

Forensic psychology

Two providers have current accreditation entries. Swinburne's doctorate is a dual clinical/forensic qualification. Its Graduate Diploma in Forensic Psychology is a separate Level 4 course; the current entry page requires an accredited postgraduate degree and existing endorsement in clinical, counselling or clinical neuropsychology. It is not an Honours-entry master's.

Health psychology

The current provider map includes UQ and Adelaide University, not UQ alone. UQ lists a health psychology field and a combined master's/PhD. Adelaide University's entry retains a Legacy UoA label in APAC; its 2026 health study guide lists the health master's. Confirm the relevant intake and delivery with Adelaide University. Working in health or studying health content does not itself confer health endorsement.

Organisational psychology

Five current institutions appear after treating the former University of Adelaide listing as a legacy entry, not an extra independent provider. UWA's title uses Industrial and Organisational Psychology; Adelaide University's uses Organisational and Human Factors. Both belong in this endorsement area. A business psychology, HR or organisational behaviour degree is not automatically an approved endorsement qualification.

Sport and exercise psychology

The current accredited provider map is ISN Psychology and UQ, not Victoria University, Canberra or Bond. ISN is a specialist higher-education provider and should not be omitted because it is not a university. Its sport and exercise master's and dual sport/clinical doctorate appear in APAC; check the precise accredited campus against advertised delivery locations. UQ lists the sport and exercise field of its Master of Psychology and a combined PhD route.

Adelaide legacy entries and course availability

The register also retains University of Adelaide entries for clinical, health, and organisational and human factors psychology, and a University of South Australia clinical master's. They are shown separately from Adelaide University's legacy-labelled entries in the source register, but should not be counted as three independent new-entry institutions. Use Adelaide University's current admissions information and confirm how your intended intake maps to the approved course.

Likewise, accreditation can remain current while a provider pauses admissions. The tables describe accreditation coverage on the check date, not guaranteed places, admission eligibility or delivery at every advertised location.

Before you apply

Pick the exact course and ask admissions to confirm in writing:

  1. 1Whether you need Honours, a completed Level 3 MPP, general registration, or an existing endorsement.
  2. 2Whether the exact qualification and campus are currently accredited and Board-approved for your intended area.
  3. 3Which intake is accepting applications, the attendance and placement requirements, and whether “online” includes in-person blocks.
  4. 4Which general-registration and registrar steps remain after graduation.

If you are comparing MPP entry with specialist study, use the MPP programs guide. For selection and interviews, use the master's application guide and interview preparation guide. For the full training sequence, see how long it takes to become a psychologist.
